What are the top reasons for divorce? Sadly, there are many divorce reasons, but, in my opinion, the ones I mention below are the 3 top reasons for divorce in many marriages. Divorce in today’s society has become just as popular as getting married or having a baby. The traditional wedding vows state, “…for better or worse, thru thick and thin, until death do us part.” When one of these vows is broken it’s very devastating to all who are involved and will usually become a reason for divorce. There are ups and downs in any relationship especially in a marriage, but most couples would rather throw in the towel and get divorced instead of trying to work out their problems with counseling and possibly fix their marriage. Below are 3 of the most popular divorce reasons.
#1: Adultery:
In my opinion, adultery is the number one reason for divorce in our society. Being faithful to your spouse is one of the promises you made to them when you made your vows to each other before God. When a spouse breaks that promise it’s very devastating for everyone involved, and will more than likely lead to a divorce.
There are several reasons why spouses commit adultery. Either they get bored with their current relationship status and find someone new to fulfill the empty feeling they have or maybe their spouse hasn’t been giving them the attention they crave and they cling to those who show them attention which sometimes can lead to an affair. Sadly, infidelity is becoming more and more of an issue in marriages than ever before.
#2: Financial Issues:
In today’s society financial issues are a huge concern for everyone, especially married couples who have children. In my opinion, this is why financial issues would be the 2nd most popular reasons for divorce. In today’s falling economy and rising unemployment rates which can make it more difficult for many Americans to find work or even keep a job. In today’s job market there is no such thing as job security. Many Americans have already lost their jobs or will lose their jobs sometime in the future, and without a job you can’t pay your bills which can bring strain on a marriage and can eventually be a divorce reason.
#3: Irreconcilable Differences
This pretty much means somewhere during the course of the marriage, one or both parties have a different outlook on their lives and tend to want out of the marriage, so they may start fresh. Many couples who fight and argue a lot tend to use irreconcilable differences as a divorce reason.
Although there are several reasons why couples get divorced, the three stated above are some of the most popular reasons.
